Sciatica

Sciatica is a term that refers to pain arising from the Sciatic nerve. You will usually feel pain arising from your low back or buttocks that “shoots” down the back of one or both or your legs. You may experience “electric shock” type pain, pins and needles or numbness. Sciatica can be caused from a variety of issues including:

  • Disc prolapse or “bulging”
  • Arthritis in the low back
  • Poor posture and lifting technique
  • Piriformis syndrome (tightness of buttocks muscles)
  • Low back strain

Sciatica can be extremely painful and needs to be treated and managed by an experienced therapist. Our Physiotherapists have extensive knowledge and experience in low back and sciatic issues. They can advise you on the best course of treatment and rehabilitation for your sciatica.
