Pilates

Pilates is a full body physical fitness regime created by Joseph Pilates in America in the 1920’s. It is a safe and effective form of therapeutic exercise that focuses on strengthening the “core” muscles that support the back and neck.

Pilates has many health benefits including; improved core muscle strength, decreased back and neck pain, improved posture and spinal alignment, increased flexibility, better balance, coordination and prevention from further injury.

Conditions that may benefit from a Pilates program include:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Postural pain
  • Work injuries
  • Pelvic and hip pain
  • Post pregnancy spinal and pelvic pain
  • Whiplash and motor vehicle injuries
  • Sports injuries

Our physiotherapists can design effective home-based programs to suit your needs. We run gym rehabilitation classes at the Elizabeth Aquadome and can include Pilates exercises into an individualised program for you.
